Ranitomeya ventrimaculata is a somewhat enigmatic little frog similar is size and behavior to Ranitomey reticulata to which it is closely related. It is very sporadically distributed throughout lowland regions of Northern Peru and adjacent regions of Amazonian Ecuador. in captivity it presents no particular problems but many keepers report it being less fecund than other Ranitomeya, including the closely related reticulata.
